KAMLOOPS — A pair of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack volleyball players earned Canada West All-Star honours for their play in 2024-25.

First-year outside hitter Rida Erlalelitepe was named a First Team All-Star on the women’s side and graduating outside hitter Sam Flowerday was named a Second Team All-Star on the men’s side.

Erlalelitepe finished fourth in Canada West with 258 kills during the 2024-25 season. In a news release issued Wednesday (Feb. 26), the WolfPack credit Erlalelitepe for being an integral part in one of the women’s volleyball program’s best seasons in which they finished No. 10 in the final U SPORTS Top 10 after sitting in the Top 10 all season.

“She has a great skillset, is a great striker of the ball and is really strong in reception,” said Chad Grimm, WolfPack women’s volleyball head coach. “She has all the tools and has a strong foundation she can lean on. More than that is her ability to process on the court, she can keep a calm mindset and can help transfer that to other people on the team.”

The WolfPack women’s volleyball team finished fifth in the Canada West standings with a 13-7 record. They’ll play the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in a quarter-final best-of-three series beginning with game on Friday (Feb. 28) in Vancouver.

In his last season with the WolfPack men’s volleyball program, Flowerday finished tied for fourth in Canada with 263 kills over 20 regular season games. He added 30 service aces as well.

“He’s written another chapter of WolfPack excellence. It’s been a pleasure to host him for these last four years and it’s been great for our program,” Pat Hennelly, WolfPack men’s volleyball coach, states. “I tell the younger guys that he’s a much different player every year when he comes back from the summer. He’s fortunate to train with the Australian National team but every year we send him off with a list of things to work on and he’s done that.”

The WolfPack men’s volleyball team finished 11th in the Canada West standings with a 6-14 record, just outside of the postseason picture.
