
TRU women begin curling nationals with defeat in Lethbridge
LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — A tough start for the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack at the U SPORTS Curling Championships in Lethbridge as they fell 7-2 to Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Monday (Feb. 24) afternoon.
The Hawks stole three points in the third end and one in the seventh en route to victory at the Lethbridge Curling Club. They also picked up a single in the second and a double in the sixth end, while TRU scored two in the fourth end.
The WolfPack are being represented by the Holly Hafeli rink from Kamloops, with Natalie Hafeli at lead, Hannah O’Neil at second, and Jorja Kopytko at third.
TRU will play the McMaster Marauders and the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Tuesday, the Dalhousie Tigers and the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday, and the St. Francis Xavier X and the Regina Cougars on Thursday.
