RCMP say 100 Mile House man killed in fatal crash west of Savona Thursday
SAVONA, B.C. — The Tkemlups Rural RCMP say a man in his 50s from 100 Mile House was killed in a fatal head-on crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Savona Thursday night (Feb. 20).
They also say two other people were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
In a news release issued Friday, police say the RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) and firefighters were called to the crash near the Big Sky Canco on the Skeetchestn Reserve around 9:18 p.m. Thursday night.
“Initial reports indicated that a car traveling westbound toward Ashcroft crossed the centre line and collided with an eastbound SUV,” BC RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said. “The driver and lone occupant of the car, a man in his late 50s from 100 Mile House, was found trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
