KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP officers showed no love to the subjects of a Valentine’s Day traffic stop in Brocklehurst, seizing drugs and guns, and recommending a series of charges.

In a news release issued Wednesday (Feb. 19), spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says an officer pulled the vehicle over at about 2:10 p.m. last Friday in the Fleetwood Avenue area. The officer had noted no front license plate on the black car and it contained multiple passengers.

Once the vehicle pulled over, the Mountie found the driver had an ‘N’ designation on his license.

“As backup officers arrived to assist, a number of other items were located and seized by police, including a loaded handgun, loaded long gun, cash, drugs, ammunition and other items,” said Evelyn.

The driver was arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Act violations, including driving contrary to conditions and restrictions, improper display of a license plate and driving while impaired by drugs. He was released with a 24-hour prohibition and the vehicle was impounded.

A passenger was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded in custody for a March 4 court appearance.

Quilchena resident Julian Noah Robinson, 24, faces a total of six charges, including obstruction, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, firearms offences and failure to comply with a court order. He was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Merritt at the time of the traffic stop.
