Water service restored in Cache Creek but boil water advisory remains

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Village of Cache Creek says a major pipe break that knocked out water to a large portion of the community Monday has been repaired.

In an update distributed to residents via Voyent Alert! during the noon hour Tuesday (Feb. 18), the village says the repairs have the system working normally. A Stage 4 Water Restriction that was enacted Monday has been lifted.

In spite of the fix, a boil water advisory remains in place for the village thanks to a separate issue.

The boil water advisory was put in place Sunday evening due to an equipment failure in the municipal water treatment plant. While the failure has also been fixed, the village is required to conduct extensive water quality testing before lifting the advisory.
