COLLINS: Council right to push back on proposed BC Housing project

Feb 16, 2025 | 6:00 AM

WITH ALL THAT THE BILLIONAIRE CLUB is up to these days and the effect it has on our future, it’s hard to avoid talking about Donnie the Destroyer and Cutthroat Musk.

Nonetheless today, let’s talk about our city. Kudos today to council for being brave enough to tell the province some questions need to be answered about proposed housing developments designed to ease the housing crisis.

I still believe a proposed project on Notre Dame Drive amid our industrial park is shortsighted. Council doesn’t agree. They like the project. Their call.

But in other parts of the city, council has asked for more clarification before rubber-stamping projects that could have issues down the road. We are right in asking these questions before granting approval.

While we are trying to move quickly to deal with our housing crisis, we have to keep in mind that these projects are going to be standing for a long time. We need to stand up to the province here to ensure we’re not building what will become slums 30 years down the road if we don’t do it right the first time around.

I’m Doug Collins and that’s One Man’s Opinion.
