UPDATE – Trans-Canada Highway reopens east of Sicamous after lengthy closure

SICAMOUS — (UPDATE Feb. 16, 7:00 a.m.): The Trans-Canada Highway was fully reopened in both directions just before 6:00 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.

The highway was opened to a single lane of alternating traffic just after 1:00 a.m. Westbound traffic was being held in Revelstoke for several hours as well, as a result of the closure.

Witnesses at the scene told CFJC Today that the crash was between a pickup truck and a semi-truck.

CFJC has reached out to the RCMP for information about the crash.

ORIGINAL — The Trans-Canada Highway is closed in both directions east of Craigellachie because of a multi-vehicle crash.

DriveBC first reported that the highway was closed around 4:50 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 15). In an update about an hour later, it said emergency vehicles were at the scene, and there is no detour available at this time.

It’s not clear what happened, though pictures shared with CFJC Today shows a chopper on the highway. DriveBC cameras also show a lengthy lineup of vehicles near Perry River Bridge.
