KAMLOOPS — There was no love lost between the Kamloops Blazers and the Kelowna Rockets as the two B.C. Division rivals squared off in a Valentine’s Day showdown at Sandman Centre Friday (Feb. 14) night.

The Blazers scored a goal in each period as they snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win, a result that helped the Rockets extend their franchise record losing streak to 12 games.

It was also regular season win number 583 for Blazers Head Coach and General Manager Shaun Clouston, who moved past former Blazers and Rockets Head Coach Marc Habscheid for fifth all-time among all WHL coaches.

Jordan Keller opened the scoring for the Blazers on the power play at 12:50 of the first period with his 26th goal of the season. The Kamloops native leads all WHL skaters with 17 power play goes this season.

Conner Radke made it goals in back-to-back games when he doubled the Blazers lead at 12:07 of the second period, but the Rockets pulled one back through Jaxon Kehrig at 16:38 of the period.

Tommy Lafreniere then restored the two-goal lead at 9:06 in the third period with his 20th goal of the season. It too came on the power play.

The Blazers got another strong showing from 17-year-old goaltender Logan Edmonstone, who was making his seventh consecutive start. Edmonstone stopped 35 of 36 shots, and was named first star on the night. Lafreniere and Kelly picked up second and third star honours respectively.

Rhett Stoesser made 29 saves on 32 shots in a losing effort for the Rockets, the 2026 Memorial Cup hosts, who remain in the basement of the Western Conference with 37 points from 52 games.

Friday’s win moved Kamloops to within a point for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Blazers have 42 points from 52 games, one behind Seattle and Wenatchee, who have played 51 and 53 games respectively.

The Blazers and Rockets will rematch at 6:05 p.m. in Kelowna Saturday night before the Blazers return home to host the Spokane Chiefs in a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Family Day Monday, Feb. 17.
