KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say an investigation into an arson led investigators to make a major drug bust in Brocklehurst last week.

The revelation Monday is a follow-up to a major police presence at a home in the 1700-block of Brunner Avenue last Friday (Feb. 7).

In a news release, the detachment says members descended on the home at about 10:00 a.m. Friday, finding amounts of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. They also seized a handgun, three rifles and other weapons.

One person was arrested but has been released as officers move forward with their investigation.

“Last week’s successful search warrant execution was part of the continuous work that our Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Team continue to pursue as part of their investigations as we continue to target those involved in drug trafficking and violent crime in our community,” said Detachment Commander Supt. Jeff Pelley.

The Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) supported the Kamloops detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit in carrying out the operation.
