KAMLOOPS — Two 24-year-old Thompson Rivers University students were safely rescued by search and rescue volunteers after they got stuck in their vehicle in the Lac Du Bois area this weekend.

Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) says it was called out around 3:20 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 2) to rescue two men who were stranded near Pass Lake. In an update on social media about four hours later, KSAR confirmed that the pair were safely returned to their homes.

“Although the students were not dressed appropriately for the weather, they had an iPhone with them and managed to send out an SOS with very accurate coordinates,” KSAR told CFJC Today, in a statement.

“A team of five KSAR members responded. They utilized snowmobiles for the rescue and provided the students with warm clothing for their return trip.”
