KAMLOOPS — The mayor of Kamloops has revealed to CFJC News on Friday (Jan 31) that he has filed a police report against a fellow councilor.

Reid Hamer-Jackson confirmed that he filed a police report on January 18, shortly after a January meeting of the Urban Mayors Caucus, alleging that Councillor Kelly Hall had obtained information from the meeting through a nefarious act.

“I asked Councillor Hall about where he got that information, and he just said after running a couple businesses and having a lot of contacts in the media, that he has his contacts. Then I learned that hacking into a meeting is illegal, and so I filed a police report and we will see what happens,” said Hamer-Jackson.

For his part, Councillor Hall told CFJC News he was completely unaware of the police report, stating that he got the information in question directly from the Urban Mayors Caucus via email, as the city was placed onto the group’s email distribution list Hamer-Jackson was removed as the city’s official spokesperson in May of 2024.

Kamloops Mounties confirmed they have received a complaint matching this description and are investigating what they call a mischief to data report. Anybody with further information is asked to contact the local detachment.
