Blazers fall to Americans at home 6-2

Jan 30, 2025 | 6:59 AM

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers could not keep their weekend momentum during Wednesday’s (Jan. 29) matchup against the Tri-City Americans on Indigenous Night from Sandman Centre.

The Americans opened the scoring early in the first, but Blazers captain Emmitt Finnie picked his spot from the left circle on the power play to tie the game 1-1 moments later.

Ten seconds into the second frame, the Americans retook the lead, but the Blazers answered back with another power play goals minutes later. Jordan Keller redirected Nathan Behm’s pass of an Americans skate and in to tie the game 2-2.

However, that’s as close as Wednesday’s tilt would get, as the Americans scored four unanswered goals en route to the 6-2 win.

The Blazers fall to 17-25-3-0 on the 2024-25 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, good for 37 points in 45 games. They’re fourth in the B.C. Division and ninth in the WHL Western Conference, trailing the Wenatchee Wild for the final playoff spot by one point.

The Blazers host the Swift Current Broncos on Friday (Jan. 31). Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. at Sandman Centre.
