LANGLEY B.C. — Kamloops native Corryn Brown is off to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario next month.

The 29-year-old Kamloops skip beat Kayla MacMillan 10-7 in nine ends to win the 2025 BC Women’s Curling championships Sunday (Jan. 26) morning, in what was their third meeting in three days at the George Preston Arena.

“It feels incredible,” Brown said on the broadcast after her win. “We had a really great week, all week. We showed that we deserved to be here and I think we brought it all together in that last game.”

Team Brown, which also consists of Erin Pincott, Sarah Koltun, and Samantha Fisher, picked up three points in the third end, and led 6-3 at the break.

“I think I’m probably thankful it wasn’t a draw,” Brown said of the points in the third end. “Just saw an opportunity and just tried to capitalize when we could. Slide was feeling really good, so just threw it close and let the sweepers do the rest.”

Trailing 8-4 after seven ends, MacMillan, from Victoria, responded with three points in the eighth to make it 8-7, but the Brown foursome added to their lead in the ninth and then held on in the tenth.

Team Brown finished the round robin stage with a 6-1 record, with their only loss coming to the MacMillan rink. They followed that up with an 8-3 win over MacMillan in the 1 vs. 2 page playoff game Saturday to earn a spot in Sunday’s final.

This will be Brown’s fourth appearance at the Scotties, though its just her second provincial title. Brown won a B.C. title in 2020, and competed at the Scotties in 2020, 2021, and 2024.

“Jim’s incredible,” Brown said of their coach, Kamloops native Jim Cotter. “I can’t speak highly enough of what he brings to our team. He really took us to that next level and we’re grateful for the expertise that he brings to our team as far as strategy, line of delivery and everything like that.”

“We’re indebted to Jim forever.”

The 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be held between Feb. 14 and 23. The winner will represent Canada at the 2025 World Women’s Curling Championship in South Korea in March.
