RCMP say lengthy Friday police presence in Brocklehurst was due to mental health call
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a lengthy police operation in Brocklehurst Friday (Jan. 24) afternoon was connected to a mental health call.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Darren Dodge says officers were called to the 2100-block of Young Avenue – near the intersection of Windbreak Street and Greenfield Avenue – around 2:20 p.m. to reports of a woman who was experiencing “some serious mental health issues.”
“Because of the risk of the situation, the Southeast District Emergency Response Team was called out and they attended,” Dodge told CFJC Today.
“Fortunately, the female was safely apprehended and she was transported to the local hospital for treatment.”
