Multi-vehicle incident impacts traffic on Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt

UPDATE (11:00 a.m.): Yellowhead Road and Bridge Nicola says the northbound lanes have reopened. Additionally, DriveBC no longer lists the incident on its map online.

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): Traffic in both directions on the stretch of the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt is operating at a single lane due to vehicle recovery.

Another update is due at 10:00 a.m.

EARLIER: MERRITT, B.C. — Traffic is snarled on a stretch of the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle incident on Highway 5 near Comstock Road at around 6:30 a.m. Friday (Jan. 17).

In follow-up social media posts, Yellowhead Road and Bridge Nicola – the contractor for road service in the Nicola Service Area – said the multi-vehicle incident in the northbound lanes near Comstock Road was affecting traffic in both directions.

DriveBC says the northbound lanes are temporarily closed, while southbound traffic is reduced to a single lane.
