Cooler temperatures en route, but Kamloops expected to avoid extreme cold warning: Environment Canada
KAMLOOPS — The weekend is not raising flags for an extreme cold warning, but Kamloops is expected to enter a cooler snap compared to the warmer start of winter.
Environment Canada is forecasting Kamloops to see overnight low temperatures of -10 and -14 Celsius on Friday (Jan. 17) and Saturday night, with a daytime high of -6 in between.
Speaking to CFJC Today Monday (Jan. 13) morning, meteorologist Brian Proctor says winds from the north are expected to bring in colder air that’s been dammed in the northern and central parts of Yukon.
“We’ve got lots of computer guidance that’s suggesting things are going to remain that way through much of the upcoming work week in January,” Proctor says. “Some models are trying to hold it right through the work week, others try to moderate it a little bit faster than that. But in general terms, it looks like we’re remaining below normal temperature-wise for that work week from Jan. 20 to 25.”
