Saturday morning crash closes Highway 5 east of Vavenby

VAVENBY B.C. — Highway 5 is closed in both directions just east of Vavenby because of a crash Saturday (Jan. 11) morning.

Details are limited, but DriveBC says a 3.5-kilometre section of the highway between Skinner Rd. and the McMurphy pullout has been closed since about 8 a.m. Saturday.

At this time, there are no detours available for drivers in the North Thompson.

DriveBC says the situation is currently being assessed with the next update expected at 10:00 a.m.
