2024 a top-three year for Kamloops building sector
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops construction sector was red hot in 2024.
According to year-end numbers published by the City of Kamloops, builders took out $349.8 million in permits last year, making it the third busiest year on record. Only 2022 ($415.4 million) and 2020 ($395.1 million) saw the city issue a greater value in permits.
More than 60 per cent of last year’s permit activity came in home construction. The city’s Building Inspection Division issued $215.1 million in permits to residential projects. That represents a 47 per cent increase from 2023.
Commercial construction was also strong, with $119.8 million in permits issued in 2024, a 75 per cent jump from the previous year.
