Blazers drop second straight game to Chiefs 5-2

Jan 6, 2025 | 5:17 AM

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers are leaving Spokane without a point.

After losing 3-2 the night prior, the Blazers fell to the Spokane Chiefs again Sunday (Jan. 6) 5-2.

The Blazers surrendered the first three goals before getting on the board late in the second period. Vit Zahejsky – the second overall pick in the 2024 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft – got behind the defence and snuck past his first career Western Hockey League (WHL) goal.

However, the milestone from the Czech forward would not ignite a Blazers comeback as the Chiefs added two more goals en route to the 5-2 win. Jordan Keller tipped in a late power play goal for the Blazers.

The Blazers have lost three in a row and are winless in 2025. They fall to 13-21-3-0 on the 2024-25 WHL season, good for 29 points in 37 games. They trail the Wenatchee Wild by five points for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot.

The Blazers return home Friday (Jan. 6) to welcome the Vancouver Giants to Sandman Centre. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
