KAMLOOPS — Two former Kamloops NorthPaws players will be back in the dugout as assistant coaches for the 2025 West Coast League (WCL) season.

Trey Newman and Jack Slominski will serve as assistants to new head coach Riley Jepson. The pair, who are both from Scottsdale, Arizona, also coached in the Arizona Summer League in 2023.

“Happy to get Jack and Trey in Kamloops this summer,” Jepson said, in a statement. “They bring a young and exciting energy with great backgrounds of high-level baseball to Kamloops”

The NorthPaws say Newman, the first ever player signed by the NorthPaws, will serve as an assistant coach while Slominski will be team’s new pitching coach.

Newman is currently serving as the Director of Offensive Strategy and Analytics at UC Berkeley, while Slominski is the Head Infield Coach and Assistant Pitching Coach at Scottsdale Community College.

“I’m very excited to come back to Kamloops and help the next batch of college baseball players develop their skillset and knowledge of the game in any way I can help,” Newman said in a statement.

“I’m super excited to get up to Kamloops this summer,” Slominski added. “We have a great group of guys coming in and I’m excited to get to work and win some ballgames.”

The Kamloops NorthPaws will open the 2025 West Coast League (WCL) season on the road in Port Angeles on May 30. Their first home game at Norbrock Stadium is scheduled for Friday, June 6 against the Kelowna Falcons.

The team says more information on tickets and schedules will be coming this month.
