Operation Red Nose raises over $17,000 in Kamloops during 2024 campaign

KAMLOOPS — With 2025 underway Operation Red Nose has wrapped up yet another successful campaign providing people safe rides home during the holidays.

Around 115 independent volunteers filled 280 different positions to help patrons get to their destinations. The non-profit organization operated every Friday and Saturday night, as well as on New Year’s Eve.

“This year was the same and pretty much on par with last year. We did 434 rides over 11 nights, whereas last year we did 512 rides over 13 nights. So averaging 39 rides a night, said Carolynn Boomer, the Executive Director, PacificSport Interior BC.

Boomer says Operation Red Nose has raised about $17,000 so far this year, though final totals are still being tallied.

“We’ve got the final numbers that will come in once the sponsorship pieces are added but $17,000 of client donations that basically equated to a $39 per ride donation,” Boomer added.

Boomer says all of the proceeds will go towards helping support local athletes in the Kamloops area.
