Update : Fatal crash closes Highway 1 west of Kamloops; three others transported to hospital
KAMLOOPS — Highway 1 west of Kamloops is closed in both directions following a fatal motor vehicle incident Thursday morning, which saw three other people transported to hospital.
Tk’emlups Rural RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn confirmed that one person has died as a result of the two-vehicle collision.
Drive BC states a multi-vehicle collision occurred between Tunkwa Lake Road and Holloway Road. The road remains closed to traffic with the next update scheduled for 6:00 p.m. There is a local detour for passenger vehicles only.
“BC Emergency Health Services received a call at 10:59 a.m. today about a motor vehicle incident in the 7500 block of the Trans-Canada Highway near Savona. Two ambulances with primary care paramedics, an ambulance with advanced care paramedics, an air ambulance with critical care paramedics, and a supervisor responded to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient by air ambulance to hospital and two patients by ground ambulance to hospital,” says Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.
