Kamloops curlers win gold, silver at 2025 BC Under 20 Women’s Curling Championships

SURREY B.C. — Kamloops curlers took the 2025 BC Under 20 Women’s Curling Championships in Surrey by storm this weekend.

The Holly Hafeli rink, which curls out of the Kamloops Curling Club (KCC), won gold at the event on Monday (Dec. 30). They beat the Ava Arndt rink, which features KCC members Jillian, Bethany, and Alicia Evans, 9-4 in the final.

The Hafeli rink that also includes Jorja Kopytko, Gabby Brissette, and Natalie Hafeli were up 4-2 after five ends in the final before the Arndt rink made it a 4-4 game with singles in the seventh and eight ends.

Team Hafeli though ensured they finished the event at the Cloverdale Curling Club with a perfect 6-0 record with a five-point ninth end to claim the championship.

The Vernon-based Arndt rink finished the event with a 4-2 record. Their only other loss was also to the Hafeli rink, 9-7 in the opening draw.

Team Hafeli, which won the Open Qualifier earlier this month, will compete at the 2025 Canadian Under-20 Curling Championships in Summerside, P.E.I.

The event is scheduled to take place between March 22 and 30, 2025.
