Blazers trade Niko Tsakumis to Edmonton for defenceman, draft pick
KAMLOOPS — Niko Tsakumis’ time with the Kamloops Blazers only lasted a few months.
The Blazers dealt the 19-year-old defenceman to the Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday (Dec. 28) in exchange for 17-year-old defenceman Jager Gugyelka and a fourth round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.
The six-foot-tall Gugyelka has recorded three assists in 12 games for the Oil Kings this season. The 2007-born Coaldale, Alta. native has played a total of 28 games with the Oil Kings across parts of the last three seasons.
The 2005-born Tsakumis recorded six assists in 29 games with the Blazers after he came over from the Everett Silvertips in the Jesse Sanche trade in May. The Richmond native did not dress for Friday’s game against Vancouver.
