One year after Kamloops man’s murder, RCMP release new photos in effort to stir up tips

KAMLOOPS — BC RCMP are renewing their plea for information on the anniversary of a man’s murder near Kamloops.

In a news release issued Monday (Dec. 16), the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) says Mark Hoffman was last seen on Dec. 15, 2023, at around 5:30 p.m. making a purchase at Jimmy’s Liquor Store at 408 Paul Lake Road on the Tk’emlups reserve.

Hoffman’s body was found the following day at the Inks Lake Road recreation site off Highway 5 south of Kamloops, along with the body of his dog and his Ford Explorer.

To advance the investigation, police are releasing still images from CCTV video of Hoffman’s visit to Jimmy’s Liquor Store.

“This remains an open and active investigation,” S/Sgt. Jason Smart states. “We’re urging anyone who had contact with Mark Hoffman, saw his vehicle, or has any information that may help solve this crime to contact us.”

The SED MCU previously stated that Hoffman was killed west of Highway 5, off Inks Lake Road. The precise location is within the Logan Lake Community Forest, at coordinates 50.616435, -120.478799.
