SUN PEAKS, B.C. — (UPDATE 09:10 a.m.) – Kamloops RCMP are looking for a missing 68-year-old skier who was last seen on Tuesday (Dec. 10).

In a statement, Sun Peaks Resort says Tomasz Jaholkowski was last seen at the West Bowl chairlift on Tod Mountain mid-morning on Tuesday. They say he appeared to be alone, and had no further lift scans that day.

“RCMP are leading this missing persons case, with support from Kamloops Search & Rescue and other BC-based Search & Rescue teams, and Sun Peaks Resort operations teams.” the Resort statement said.

“Aerial search efforts have been deployed, including helicopter and drones, in addition to ground search teams.

Jaholkowski is described as a white man, standing about five-foot-ten, weighing 180 lbs. He had grey hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a red and black ski jacket, dark ski pants, and a dark helmet.

Mounties say Jaholkowski hasn’t been heard from since 11:35 a.m. Tuesday morning. He was reported missing to Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP on Wednesday.

“Mr. Jaholkowski does not appear to have returned to his hotel room, nor has he been heard from since checking into the run on Tuesday,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said.

Evelyn says police are concerned for Jaholkowski’s well-being, and they’re asking people who may have seen him or those who may have information about his whereabouts to contact police as soon as possible.

“We are releasing photos of Mr. Jaholkowski obtained from the ski lift where he was last observed, as well as an image of him without his ski gear, in hopes that someone will recall having seen him since that last check-in and contact police as soon as possible,” Evelyn added.

People with information that may be related are being told to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-40236.
