KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops Blazers defenceman will represent his country at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship for a second straight year.

Czech Ice Hockey announced Matteo Koci will be one of 27 players playing for Czechia. The 19-year-old Blazers blueliner was part of the Czech team that won bronze in the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship. In 2024, he suited up in seven games but was held off the scoresheet.

Koci has scored one goal and six points in 23 games during his second season with the Blazers in 2024-25.

The World Junior Hockey Championship runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Ottawa. Koci and Czechia begin round robin play on Boxing Day against Switzerland.
