A South Korean court issues arrest warrant for ex-defense minister over martial law imposition
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for the former defense minister in connection with last week’s martial law imposition.
The Seoul Central District Court said it approved prosecutors’ request for an arrest warrant against Kim Yong Hyun.
Kim faces allegations that he colluded with President Yoon Suk Yeol and others in imposing the Dec. 3 martial law, which brought armed troops to Seoul streets. Authorities investigate whether their acts amount to rebellion.
Kim became the first person arrested in the case.
