Blazers beaten 5-2 by WHL-leading Everett Silvertips

KAMLOOPS β€” A tough night for the Kamloops Blazers as they were beaten 5-2 by the WHL-leading Everett Silvertips at Sandman Centre Saturday (Nov. 23) night.

The Blazers got goals from Emmitt Finnie and former Silvertip Oren Shtrom but it was former Blazer Kaden Hammell who scored what turned out to the be the game-winner.

Shtrom opened the scoring for the home team at 3:34 in the second period, but the Tips bounced back just 26 seconds later through Tyler MacKenzie.

Goals from Eric Jamieson and Hammell had the visitors up by two, before Finnie pulled the Blazers back within one at 18:18 of the second period.

Third period goals for Dominik Rymon and Carter Bear rounded out the scoring for the Silvertips who improve to 18-3-1-1 this season. The Blazers meanwhile drop to 11-12-1-0, and sit seventh in the Western Conference.

Dylan Ernst turned aside 29 of 33 shots in a losing effort for the Blazers. Rookie netminder Raiden LeGall picked up his first career win, as he stopped 29 of 31 shots.

Sam Borschowa assisted on both Blazers goals for his first career multi-point night in the WHL. Both Landon DuPont – son of former Blazer Micki DuPont – and Merritt native Jaxsin Vaughan had points in their first game in Kamloops with the Silvertips.

Next up for the Blazers is a game in Spokane against the Chiefs on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Their next home game is on Friday, Nov. 29, against the Regina Pats, in a 7:00 p.m. game.
