KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers couldn’t make it two-for-two over the weekend as they fell to the Wenatchee Wild 4-2 on the road Sunday (Nov. 17).

Special teams were anything but special for the Blazers early on as they surrendered a power play goal and a shorthanded goal to fall behind 2-0.

Captain Emmitt Finnie would reverse the Blazers’ fortunes on the power play. His wrist shot from the left circle would cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Wild restored their two-goal lead early in the third period, but the captain once again got the Blazers within one. With the goaltender pulled for the extra skater, another wrist shot from Finnie from the left circle made it a 3-2 game.

However, the tying goal wasn’t meant to be as the Wild iced the puck into the empty net to secure the 4-2 win.

The Blazers fall to 11-10-1-0 on the 2024-25 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, good for 23 points in 22 games. They’re third in the WHL B.C. Division and sixth in the Western Conference.

The Blazers travel to Prince George on Friday (Nov.22) to take on the Cougars before they welcome the Everett Silvertips to Sandman Centre on Saturday (Nov. 23). Puck drop on Saturday is 6:00 p.m.
