KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (12:15 p.m.): Kamloops RCMP say one man was taken to hospital after a targeted shooting at a house in Brocklehurst Friday night, Nov. 15.

Police say they were called to the 1700-block of Parkcrest Avenue around 5:00 p.m. last night. They say they arrived to find the man suffering from serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement Saturday afternoon, RCMP say they were told that the man was in an outbuilding at the house when he was shot by an unknown number of suspects, who then fled through the backyard and toward the train tracks.

Mounties say no suspects were located despite the massive police response, which included the RCMP dog team and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team.

“Although it’s still very early in the investigation, we can confirm the victim is known to police and the incident is believed to be targeted,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley, said, in a statement. “Incidents of serious violence in our communities, particularly those involving firearms, are very concerning to the public and to police.”

“We remain steadfast in our efforts to continue to advance these investigations, while at the same time suppressing and reducing such events through strategized enforcement efforts.”

Pelley says the motive behind Friday’s shooting is still being investigated. The RCMP is asking people who may have information to reach out as soon as possible.

“From the public, we continue to request that you support us by sharing any information you may have that could be related to these activities, including suspicious vehicles, people, or occurrences in your neighbourhoods,” Pelley added.

A police presence remains on Parkcrest Avenue as part of the ongoing investigation, though traffic has been flowing on the major thoroughfare.

Those with information are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-37594.

ORIGINAL – Kamloops RCMP remain on scene at a house in the 1700-block of Parkcrest Avenue this morning, Nov. 16, though the details around their operation which began last night remain unclear.

Mounties had the section of Parkcrest Avenue between Holt and Laroque streets closed to traffic for several hours Friday night, Nov. 15.

While people are able to pass through on Parkcrest this morning, the house in question is currently behind yellow police tape. Pictures from the scene sent to CFJC Today also show a smashed window.

Some residents in that part of north Kamloops took to social media last night to report hearing what sounded like a gun shot fired and a person screaming for help. Those details have not yet been confirmed by police.
