KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Street Rod Association (KSRA) has donated a record $18,000 to the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Foundation in support of pediatrics.

Association president Kim Grayston says the money was raised by car enthusiasts at a number of different events organized over the year.

“We’ve been doing it since 1992 and mainly because it’s good to give to the little kids because you always feel sorry for the little ones when they get sick and stuff,” Grayston said. “That’s been our charity since then.”

Grayston told CFJC Today their members are hoping to be able to donate an even larger amount next year as the number KSRA members increased by 150 per cent this year, from 35 to a little over 90.

“Last year, we gave $10,000 and the year before that $13,000, and then this year was $18,000, so next year we’re hoping we can do a little better than that,” he said. “Maybe even $20,000, that would be a good one.”

Grayston says the KSRA members will also be hosting two car shows in 2025 — one at Prince Charles Park downtown on May 24 and the other at the Tkemlúps Pow Wow Grounds on July 12.

Both shows will be open to the public, with all proceeds going towards next year’s donation.
