Wind warning issued for the Cariboo
CLINTON, B.C. — A wind warning is in effect for the Cariboo Monday (Nov. 4).
The warning from Environment Canada covers the Cariboo, Chilcotin, Lakes District, Stuart Nechako and Highway 97 from Clinton to 100 Mile House. It’s due to a strong Pacific frontal system that will push into B.C.’s interior stating Monday morning.
While the southerly winds with the warm front are expected to create gusty winds Monday morning into the afternoon, Environment Canada says winds associated with a cold front are expected to bring westerly winds near 70 km/h and gusting to 90 km/h late Monday afternoon and into the night.
The weather agency warns that gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
