WolfPack women’s basketball team drops season opener to Heat 71-47
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack women’s dropped their home and season opener to the University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan Heat 71-47 Thursday (Oct. 31) night.
The WolfPack had an early 7-5 lead at the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC), but the Heat ended the first quarter with an 11-1 run. The Heat led by 20 points at half time and didn’t look back.
Second-year guard Sydney Volrath led the WolfPack offensively with 16 points on five-for-13 shooting. She added five rebounds and an assist. Fourth-year guard Danijela Kovacevic added 12 points on five-for-13 shooting and had four steals, a rebound and an assist.
The WolfPack are 0-1 to start the 2024-25 Canada West season. Next up is a road trip to Prince George on Sunday to take on the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves. TRU’s next home game is Friday, Nov. 8, against the UBC Thunderbirds. Tipoff is at 5:30 from the TCC.
