New civic facilities master plan finds need for additional funding from Kamloops Council
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has completed a Civic Facilities Master Plan and are set to present the findings to city council during a committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday, October 29.
“To help position the City to continue to take care of its existing facilities and successfully take on new facilities in the future, the City has developed its first Strategic Civic Facilities Master Plan,” reads the report set to be presented on Tuesday.
The city of Kamloops is responsible for 190 civic facilities, worth the replacement value of $1.5 billion.
“The assessments revealed that the City’s buildings are mostly well-maintained and generally meet their intended purpose. The outcomes of the Facilities Master Plan include recommendations for capital investments in select facilities, policy development, data management, governance, and other improvements to help the City continue to demonstrate excellence in civic facilities management and ensure that its portfolio meets the needs of the community over the next 10 years and beyond,” continues the report.
