UPDATE (4:10 p.m.): Three people were arrested after Kamloops RCMP were called to a home in Upper Sahali Wednesday (Oct. 23).

In a news release, spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says RCMP were called to a home on Carmel Court, responding just before 2:00 p.m.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, a residence of interest was identified and the assistance of the [Southeast District Emergency Response Team] was requested by the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, due to the violence and weapons involved in the initial report,” said Evelyn.

Police shut down nearby Highway 5A between Hugh Allan Drive and Aberdeen Drive for about an hour, reopening it at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

“Due to the proximity of the highway in relation to the residence on Carmel Court where police were present, traffic was temporarily rerouted out of an abundance of caution,” said Evelyn. “The highway was reopened about an hour later, following the arrest of three people who are known to police.”

RCMP are not providing any further details about the call or the investigation, saying keeping quiet will protect the integrity of the investigation.
