KAMLOOPS – Heffley Creek Hall’s annual craft fair and harvest sale took place on Sunday (Oct. 20), with hundreds attending in and around the Heffley Creek area.

The event is held every year to support local vendors. It gives people a chance to buy some last-minute Halloween items and even get a head start on some holiday shopping. The fair also sells some produce, with funds going toward the community hall.

“We always get a ton of community support,” organizer Deb McDougall told CFJC News. “I try to have as many local vendors as I can. We do include Kamloops, Barriere, Clearwater and Sun Peaks. I like it because I like to see all the different vendors and their different things and how they actually morph. They evolve in what they make because they get ideas from other vendors. That’s really what the fair is all about. I have chairs for older people to come and sit and gather and you’ll see people standing there talking because it’s a community getting together and it’s just a warm, friendly place.”

The hall was lined up with dozens of shops excited to sell their products and get out into the community. Many take advantage of events like these to make connections and help with sales.

“I like attending the local craft fairs because I get to talk to people I only see once or twice a year,” said Lawrence Bergstrand of Sun Hill Apiaries. “Also, it’s nice to support local businesses and for me, it’s nice to just be out in the public.”

“Most of my business is done face-to-face, person-to-person, eye contact. That way I can talk about my own personal products and my journey with it,” added Jill Coridor of Rainbow Moments Bath Soaps and Candles. “Everything that I have is biodegradable with recycled labels and plastic wrap. Being able to discuss that with customers face to face has really helped benefit my sales.”
