Sunday the quietest day of first advanced voting round in Kamloops and area

KAMLOOPS — Sunday (Oct. 13) was the quietest day of the first phase of advance voting for the 2024 B.C. general election.

New numbers from Elections BC show 1,211 eligible voters in Kamloops Centre cast ballots on Sunday, which is 214 votes lower than the 1,425 recorded on Saturday. In total, 7,384 votes have been cast in Kamloops Centre, representing nearly 16.9 per cent of eligible voters in the riding.

Advance voter turnout also dipped in Kamloops-North Thompson. On Sunday, 1,082 votes were cast for a four-day total of 5,742. It represents nearly 12 per cent of eligible voters.

Voter turnout in other nearby ridings as of Sunday is as follows:

  • Fraser-Nicola (5,672 or 17.3 per cent of eligible voters)
  • Cariboo-Chilcotin (4,877 or 15.1 per cent)
  • Salmon Arm-Shuswap (9,711 or 19.2 per cent)

Of B.C.’s 3,550,017 registered voters, 596,755 participated in advance voting. It represents nearly 16.8 per cent of eligible voters.

The second round of advance voting will be held Tuesday (Oct. 15) and Wednesday. General voting day is Saturday, Oct. 19.
