Lawyer Sundhu, TRU’s Bano weigh in on deteriorating relations between Canada, India

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops lawyer Bill Sundhu and Thompson Rivers University assistant professor of political studies Saira Bano are voicing concerns over relations between India and Canada.

The ongoing dispute over the killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last June in Surrey took another turn on Monday (Oct. 14), when Canada announced the expulsion of six Indian diplomats, including its high commissioner.

While Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the RCMP allege Indian diplomats in Canada are linked to killings, death threats and extortion across the country, India denies the allegations and responded Monday by expelling six Canadian diplomats, including its high commissioner.
