COLLINS: How do Americans keep getting suckered by Donald Trump?

Oct 13, 2024 | 6:00 AM

THE REAL ISSUE in any political campaign is the ability to control the news cycle. In the United States right now, much of the news has been controlled by Donald Trump.

How does he do it? By lying. By taking a statement and hammering it over and over again. And half of America believes what he says. Even though in many cases, no one can understand what he’s saying. He wanders off, starting to make a point, then a light goes on and he just starts on something else. And people in his camp just lap it up.

Listen to his speeches. The only time he makes sense is when he talks about his belief that he is the greatest president ever. He tells lies about his record in office and when he gets called out on it, his tribe of conspiracy theorists come to his aid, threatening Trump’s detractors, taking away the First Amendment rights of someone afraid to speak out for fear of retribution.

Many will disagree but I honestly think Donald Trump is one of the most despicable human beings of the past century. It’s hard for me to believe that people I respect and admire are buying into this lunacy. They buy into these conspiracy theories as if they were gospel.

Turn off the fans and stop the wind from fanning the storm. Climate change didn’t cause the high winds and rain — the government did. This despite scientific proof that climate change had a definite effect on Hurricane Helene. A Wednesday story in the Associated Press says storms like Helene used to happened once in 130 years. Now they are two-and-a-half times more frequent. Warmer sea temperatures fuelled the storm even further. Helene dumped more than 40 trillion gallons of water on the area, and the dumb Trump supporters just trail behind, like dogs looking for a bone as Trump blames Biden and Harris for the death and destruction.

Next, he will likely head to Florida, walk on the water and tell the storms to cease and be still.

This man gets more dangerous every day. I have only two words for those who want to ‘make America great again’ — November 5th.

I’m Doug Collins and that’s One Man’s Opinion.
