Blazers rally for point in overtime defeat down south

KENNEWICK, WASH. — Jackson Smith scored in overtime to lift the Tri-City Americans to a 5-4 victory over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday (Oct. 12) in Kennewick, Wash.
Brandon Whynott, Nick Anisimovicz, Carter Savage and Gavin Garland also scored for the Americans (2-3-1-0), whose goaltender, Lukas Matecha, made 27 saves to pick up the win between the pipes.
The Blazers (2-4-1-0) rallied from a 4-1 deficit to earn a point, with goals from Emmitt Finnie, Oren Shtrom, Layton Feist and Harrison Brunicke.
Kamloops goaltender Dylan Ernst allowed five goals on 34 shots.
