Advance voting numbers in for Kamloops-and-area ridings

KAMLOOPS — Elections BC is tracking advance voting turnout for the provincial election.

In Kamloops Centre, 6,173 people headed to the polls from Thursday (Oct. 10) to Saturday (Oct. 12), representing about 14.1 per cent of eligible voters in the riding.

Over the first three days of advance voting in Kamloops-North Thompson, turnout was 4,660 or about 9.7 per cent of registered voters.

Voter turnout was steady in Fraser-Nicola (4,909 or 15 per cent of eligible voters), Cariboo-Chilcotin (4,503 or 14 per cent) and Salmon Arm-Shuswap (8,560 or 16.9 per cent).

Advance voting continues through Sunday, takes Thanksgiving Monday off and resumes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

General voting day is Saturday, October 19.

B.C. saw a record number of voters cast ballots in the first day of advance voting for the provincial election.

According to Elections BC, 171,381 people went to the polls on Thursday (Oct. 10). That’s the highest-ever total for one day of advance voting.
