A pair of Kamloops-Kelowna clashes on Friday (Oct. 11) did not go the way of the TRU WolfPack soccer teams.

The UBC Okanagan Heat of the Little Apple came out on top of the Canada West contests, earning a 3-2 victory in the women’s match in Kamloops and 2-1 win in the men’s match in Kelowna.

Bella Geremia and Ainsley Grether bulged the old onion bag in a losing effort for the women’s team, which suffered a severe blow to its post-season hopes and dropped to 4-6-2 on the campaign.

Grether scored to give TRU a 2-1 lead in the second half, but the Heat rallied to tie and scored on a penalty in extra-time to secure the win.

UBC Okanagan (6-5-1) holds the fourth and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division, with a five-point lead on fourth-place TRU.

The Pack have two games remaining this season, road matches next weekend against the Mount Royal Cougars (3-6-2) in Calgary and Victoria Vikes (6-2-3) on Vancouver Island.

Ryan Olak tallied for the WolfPack on Friday.

TRU is 1-10-2 this season ahead of the rematch against the Heat (3-8-3) on Saturday (Oct. 12) in Kelowna.
