Nursing coverage secured in time to avoid temporary loss of emergency medical services at Nicola Valley Hospital

Merritt was to once again be without emergency medical services Friday night (Oct. 11), this according to an Interior Health press release issued at 4:14 p.m. on Friday.
But another press release from Interior Health at 5:26 p.m. on Friday noted nursing coverage was secured for Nicola Valley Hospital and there would be no closure from 6 p.m. on Friday to 8 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 12).
Earlier this month, Merritt mayor Mike Goetz was given an IH document suggesting there could dozens of closures of the town’s emergency room before the end of the year, including the one that was avoided on Friday.
