Child cyclist injured after being struck by SUV in Brocklehurst Thursday

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are asking the public for tips as they investigate a collision between an SUV and child on a bicycle not far from Brocklehurst Secondary School.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident took place Thursday morning (Oct. 10) at about 8:10 a.m., near the corner of Tranquille Road and Windbreak Street.

An 11-year-old riding a bicycle was hit by an SUV while in the crosswalk at that intersection.

“The youth was transported to hospital with injuries and is expected to recover,” said Evelyn. “Please reach out to police as soon as possible if you witnessed the collision or have information that may be related.”

Evelyn says the driver of the SUV remained on scene.
