Weekend for Kamloops RCMP includes gun point, sexual assault investigation and intoxicated man refusing to leave motel

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 381 calls for service from Friday, Oct. 4 to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024. Below are some incidents police attended.

Man arrested after reportedly refusing to leave Valleyview motel

RCMP say officers were called to a motel on the 1900-block of Trans Canada Highway East at around 2:40 p.m. Saturday for a report of an intoxicated man who was allegedly threatening nearby residents and accusing them of stealing.

The man was arrested and placed inside a police vehicle, where he continued yelling and began kicking its interior.

The man was held in cells to sober up safely and for assessment by the Integrated Crisis Response Team.

Sexual assault at a motel

Officers responded to a motel at the 600-block of Columbia Street West at around 4:00 a.m. Sunday for the report of a sexual assault involving parties known to each other.

A suspect was arrested, and he was released with a court date and conditions. RCMP say charge recommendations are anticipated.

Gun pointed on the North Shore

Officers were called to the 400-block of Royal Avenue at around 3:35 p.m. Friday where a person reportedly pointed a pistol at a group of people.

The suspect then ran down an alleyway before getting into a dark SUV. RCMP say the parties involved were known to each other.

A suspect was not found after police patrols in the area.
