Caputo proud, notes words matter with Bill C-291 to become law

Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Frank Caputo is in a celebratory mood.

He authored Bill C-291 shortly after he was elected in 2021 and, after passing its third reading in the senate on Tuesday (Oct. 8), it will become law on Thursday (Oct. 10).

The criminal code will be amended to replace the term “child pornography” with “child sexual abuse and exploitation material.”

North Okanagan-Shuswap MP Mel Arnold sponsored the bill.
