Boil water advisory issued for District of Clearwater

CLEARWATER, B.C. — A 12-hour planned power outage for the North Thompson region is finished but one community is under a boil water advisory.

In a notice issued via Voyent Alert! Sunday (Oct. 6) evening, the District of Clearwater says residents are asked to boil water used for drinking purposes for at least one minute at a rolling boil. Residents are also asked to avoid drinking from public water fountains during the advisory.

While water in Clearwater is still able to be used for bathing and washing, the District encourages residents to sponge bath infants and younger children during the boil water advisory.

In a post to social media Sunday evening, Clearwater Mayor Merlin Blackwell says the District’s engineers will attempt to restore the local water system Monday morning, but the boil water advisory is expected to last until Wednesday.

BC Hydro planned the power outage to complete infrastructure maintenance in the North Thompson. Nearly 8,500 customers were without power for most of Sunday.
