KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers picked up their second win of the young Western Hockey League (WHL) season on the road Sunday (Oct. 6), defeating the Wenatchee Wild 2-1 in overtime.

Nathan Behm opened the scoring near the end of the first period by pouncing on a rebound off the end boards to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead after the first period. However, the Wild responded in the final seconds of the second period and the game would remain deadlocked at 1-1 going into overtime.

Layton Feist’s first goal as a Blazer was a crucial one. The 20-year-old defenceman kept the puck on a two-on-one and wristed the puck past Wild goaltender Daniel Hauser to secure the 2-1 victory. Blazers goaltender Dylan Ernst made 38 saves in the win.

The Blazers improve to 2-3-0-0 on the 2024-25 WHL season, good for four points in five games. The Blazers are back in Washington State Friday, Oct. 11, when they visit the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Blazers’ next home game is Tuesday, Oct. 15, against the Prince Albert Raiders at Sandman Centre.
