Winterhawks score five third-period goals to spoil Blazers’ home opener

KAMLOOPS — Zach Pantelakis and Max Sullivan scored in the second period to give the Kamloops Blazers a 2-0 lead in their WHL regular season opener on Friday (Sept. 20) at Sandman Centre, but the Portland Winterhawks cued the comeback in the third period.

Kyle Chyzowski scored a hat-trick, including the empty-net marker, and Kyle McDonough and Jordon Duguay added singles for the Winterhawks (1-0-0-0).

Ondrej Stebetak stopped 32 shots to pick up the victory between the pipes.

Kamloops netminder Dylan Ernst allowed four goals on 28 shots in a losing effort.
